This is the third module of a five-part Industrial Electricians Certificate offered in a Competency-Based education format. This approach allows students to progress at their own pace by demonstrating their skills and knowledge, making it ideal for those with prior experience to earn credentials.
Topics covered include: Intro to residential electrical systems, basic electrical theory, safety procedures, and prevention of electrical hazards. Use and care of hand tools and testing instruments, wiring methods and materials, and review of the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it applies to residential work. Understanding wiring diagrams and blueprints, planning circuits for outlets, lighting, and appliances, box fill calculations, conductor identification, and introduction to single-pole and three-way switches.
