ClassGraphic Embark on a journey of career discovery with our immersive STEM Careers Exploration Camp! Led by IVCC faculty, this engaging 3-day program offers a firsthand glimpse into diverse career paths in the fields of electronics, computer-aided drafting, automotive technology, machine operation, and industrial technology.

Throughout the camp, participants will delve into the requirements and experiences necessary to pursue their career aspirations in STEM fields. Through interactive sessions, students will gain insights into various occupations, learning about the educational pathways and skill sets needed to achieve their professional goals.

The highlight of the camp is an insightful tour of a local manufacturing facility, providing participants with a behind-the-scenes look at real-world applications of STEM principles in industry. Join us for an unforgettable experience that could ignite your passion and pave the way for a rewarding career in STEM! Students should bring a sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.

This camp is partially funded by grants through Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs and Carl Perkins.


Monday: 
Session 1: Electronics

In this captivating workshop, students will master the art of deciphering schematics, a crucial skill for assembling and soldering an intriguing mystery project. This project promises hours of entertainment beyond the classroom. Participants will learn to identify key electronic components on schematics, hone their soldering skills using a soldering iron, and meticulously troubleshoot their project until it reaches perfection. Get ready for an exciting journey into the world of electronics, where creativity meets problem-solving in a hands-on learning experience like no other!

Session 2: Computer Aided Design
In this interactive session, students are encouraged to bring their boundless imagination and bold ideas to the forefront. Tuesday: 
Session 1: Automotive Technology - East Campus

Get ready to rev up your summer with our exciting automotive camp. Designed for teens passionate about cars and mechanics, this camp offers a hands-on experience in automotive maintenance and inspections, vehicle alignment theory and adjustment, and gas engine theory and measurements.

Led by experienced instructors, teens will dive into the inner workings of automobiles, learning essential skills and techniques that are both practical and fascinating. From understanding the intricacies of engine components to mastering the art of vehicle alignment, campers will gain valuable knowledge that can set them on the path to a future in automotive engineering or mechanics.

One of the highlights of our Teen Automotive Camp is the thrilling NASCAR pit crew tire change competition. Campers will have the opportunity to put their newfound skills to the test in a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping challenge, just like the pros. Who will emerge as the fastest and most efficient pit crew? Join us to find out!

Session 2: Computer Numerical Control Machine Operation
Led by expert instructors with years of industry experience, our camp offers a comprehensive curriculum covering everything from basic CNC milling machine theory and programming to tooling theory and machine setup. Through a combination of interactive lessons and hands-on activities, campers will learn the fundamentals of CNC machining and gain practical skills that are in high demand in today's advanced manufacturing industry.

One of the highlights of our Teen CNC Machining Camp is the opportunity to program and execute a fun and creative project using our state-of-the-art CNC milling machines. Campers will learn how to program using dot-to-dot "Graphing Coordinate" techniques to create their very own cartoon head masterpiece. It's a hands-on experience that combines technical skill with artistic flair, allowing campers to unleash their creativity while mastering the intricacies of CNC machining.

In addition to programming and machining activities, campers will also have the chance to participate in a basic gauging demo, providing valuable insight into the importance of precision measurement in manufacturing processes. This activity will be tailored to the interests and skill levels of the students, ensuring a rewarding and engaging experience for all.

Session 1: Industrial Technology

In this dynamic course, students will delve into the fundamental principles of fluid power, exploring both hydraulic and pneumatic systems, controls, cylinders, and components. Through hands-on activities and collaborative teamwork, participants will construct real-life hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, gaining practical experience and problem-solving skills along the way.


The camp culminates in an exhilarating challenge as students design and build air-powered rockets of various sizes and materials. Using their newfound knowledge and creativity, teams will compete to see whose rocket can soar the farthest with a launcher they construct themselves. It's a thrilling conclusion to an engaging and educational journey through the exciting world of fluid power.

Please read:  Students should wear long pants or jeans, with no holes (no shorts, skirts, or capris) and (closed toed) tennis shoes. Long hair should be tied back.
