This evening continues the history of Civil War and its local connections. Explore key battles like Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Sherman’s March to the Sea, and learn the story of the historic Poundstone Flag. Discover what soldiers carried into battle, how area manufacturing supported the war effort, and learn about local Medal of Honor recipients. The program also examines the human toll of war - shell shock, amputations, medical care and the rise of morphine, drug and alcohol addiction - before concluding with the grand two-day Victory Parade and the influential politics of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.).

Presented by the David Reed (Streatorland Museum), Dan Schott (Ottawa Scouting Heritage Museum), Alex Rezvan (Mendota Museum & Historical Society) & Jeff Maierhofer (Seneca Historical Guild)
