Tracking is awareness, the skill of seeing what has passed or happened to find someone or understand something, an art nearly lost today. This is not a basic class in identifying local animal tracks. Through hands-on exercises in the woods where most people can’t even see tracks, we’ll study search-and-rescue tracking, how to follow a trail, and how to lost-proof yourself, all of which apply to better animal tracking too. We’ll not only be following trails but interpreting what animals and people are doing – even thinking – just through looking at their tracks alone!
This class will meet mostly outdoors. Dress for the outdoors. Bring a knife, note-taking materials, water bottle and lunch that does not require refrigeration for the four-hour classes. Courses for ages 18 and up. In case of weather cancellation(s), class will be rescheduled to the same time and place the next Saturday. Classes limited to 8 students, 18 or older.
