In this comprehensive online course, you will gain the skills and knowledge to prepare to work as a dental office manager. Whether you are in an entry-level position or an experienced professional, you will learn essential skills in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online that are valuable in any career. In addition, you will learn all aspects of managing the dental office, including dental terminology and anatomy, bookkeeping, maintaining medical records, accounts receivable and reimbursement, billing, insurance, scheduling patients, and performing procedural and diagnostic coding.

This course also serves as preparation for the certification exam for the QuickBooks Certified User exam. Upon completion, you will be on the road to success in a rewarding career as a Dental Office Manager and beyond.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a voucher to sit for the QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) Exam. The voucher is prepaid access to sit for the certifying exam upon eligibility. Proctor fees may apply, which are not included.

Cindy Lamkin

Cindy Lamkin has been employed in the dental field for over 20 years. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in dental hygiene and holds Registered Dental Assistant and Registered Dental Hygienist credentials. In addition to practicing clinical hygiene, she has also worked in dental office administration and treatment coordination. Her career includes general dentistry, as well as specialty practices of periodontics, endodontics, pedodontics, and orthodontics.

Wade Lindenberger

Wade Lindenberger is a CPA with over 20 years of financial accounting and management experience in public accounting and the private industry. He is currently Director of Finance and Administration for New Children's Museum. Before his current position, he worked as the National Finance and Accounting Service Line Leader for Premier Alliance Group, a national professional services firm. Wade was also Director of the Finance and Accounting service line for the San Diego office of a global, publicly held professional services firm.

Before becoming a consultant, Wade was Divisional Controller for one of the world's leading health and fitness club chains and has been an Internal Audit Manager and Divisional Controller for a Fortune 500 global energy project management company. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor to PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the "Big Four" CPA firms. He has previously served as an instructor at Coopers & Lybrand and the University of California at San Diego for the Extension Course. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Business. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Bookkeepers' Advisory Board.

Requirements:

Hardware Requirements:

  • This course must be taken on a PC. Macs are not compatible.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 10 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible.
  • QuickBooks Online (Free 1-year subscription and practice site included in enrollment.) An additional subscription or software purchase for QuickBooks Online is not required to complete this course. However, please note that this course is only suitable for the QuickBooks Online version.
  • Microsoft Office 365, 2021, or 2019 (not included in enrollment). While you can use an older version of Microsoft Office, if you do, there will be some differences between your version and what you see in the course.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.

Other:

  • Email capabilities and access to a personal email account.

Instructional Material Requirements:

The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment. The following eBooks will be provided to you approximately 7-10 business days after enrollment in the Administrative Dental Assistant portion of the program:

  • Student Workbook to Accompany the Administrative Dental Assistant

Additionally, this course will provide you with DENTRIX® software that consists of sample practice opportunities. You can use this software to engage in activities and tasks that you would perform in actual practice and demonstrate your skills.
