“In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart.” - Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl. We will explore a tale of two cultures, exploring the contributions of German Americans while reflecting on the importance of preserving the stories of those impacted by the Holocaust. We will begin your day with a guided visit to Dank Haus German American Cultural Center, where we will explore exhibits focused on the history, traditions, and contributions of German immigrants in Chicago and across the Midwest. Next, we will visit the Berghoff for lunch, one of Chicago's most historic restaurants. Family-owned since 1898, this iconic dining destination is known for its classic German-American cuisine, warm hospitality, and timeless atmosphere. In the afternoon, experience the powerful special exhibition Anne Frank the Exhibition at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry. Through immersive displays, personal artifacts, photographs, and multimedia presentations, the exhibit shares Anne Frank's story while exploring themes of courage, resilience, prejudice, and hope. Inside the exhibit, you can explore replicas of the rooms where Anne and her family lived in hiding, including Anne’s bedroom, her sister Margot’s room, and shared spaces, all furnished in the style of the 1940s (Anne Frank House.) The exhibit features more than 130 original collection pieces from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Following the exhibition, you'll have free time to explore the Museum of Science and Industry's world-renowned exhibits before boarding the coach for our return home. Join us for a meaningful day of history, culture, and reflection.

If you cancel after 7 days and we have a waiting list and can replace you, you will receive a refund, minus a $20 processing fee. The processing fee is per person. Substitution of passengers is allowed if you have someone else who would like to participate in the trip in your place.
