For many escaped enslaved persons prior to the Civil War, the path to real freedom went through LaSalle County. During this session we will learn about some of the people and places that were instrumental in helping men and women escape the chains of slavery. A special feature of the evening will be one of the most famous cases to ever challenge the Fugitive Slave Law that happened right here in LaSalle County.

Presented by Mollie Perrot (Ottawa Historical & Scouting Heritage Museum) and Jeff Maierhofer (Seneca History Museum)
