IN-PERSON 5-SESSION SERIES | Exploring LaSalle County History

Join Illinois Valley Community College and historic sites and organizations from across LaSalle County for a five-session journey through local history. Each presentation is new for Fall 2026.

Learn about Indigenous communities, the discovery of Pluto, the founding of America, the Underground Railroad in LaSalle County, Wild Bill Hickock & much more! 

You can attend all five sessions in-person or via Zoom for $75, or select individual sessions to attend via Zoom for $20 each. Participants attending in-person will also be provided the zoom link in event they are unable to attend all sessions in-person.

Programs are scheduled at Illinois Valley Community College on the following dates in CTC-124. Sessions are scheduled on Monday evenings from 6-8 PM.

Presented by Ottawa History & Scouting Heritage Museum & LaSalle County Historic Society


September 7: No class

September 14: LaSalle County Legends: Wild Bill Hickok & George Preston Blow
presented by Mendota Museum & Historic Society & Westclox Museum


September 21: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of LaSalle County
presented by Ottawa History & Scouting Heritage Museum & Reddick Mansion


September 28: Playing Hide and Seek in the 1840s and 1850s: It was not a Game
presented by Ottawa History & Scouting Heritage Museum & Seneca History Museum


October 5: LaSalle County Legends: Alvin & Libby Carus, John McCormick & Clyde Tombaugh
presented by Hegeler-Carus Mansion, LaSalle County Genealogical Guild & Streatorland Museum
