« back to classes page
Mary Hegeler Carus, the eldest daughter of zinc tycoon Edward C. Hegeler, was the first woman to graduate the University of Michigan with an Engineering Degree, and the first female president of two global companies, all before women were granted the right to vote! Not only was she a successful businesswoman, Mary was also a mother, a student, and a community leader living in La Salle, IL until her passing in 1936. In this class, presented by staff from the Hegeler Carus Mansion, you will learn about how Mary was a dynamic, inspiring woman before her time!

Instructor: Diana Espinoza, Hegeler Carus Foundation
